Audi’s partnership with SAIC on electric vehicles is viewed as a ‘milestone’ for the Chinese automotive industry.

Audi’s agreement with SAIC to create electric vehicles marks a turning point in China’s automotive industry from learning from international manufacturers to developing. Volkswagen-owned luxury brand, 113 years old, has announced this agreement with the state-owned Chinese automaker. Since China’s market is quickly switching to EVs, the collaboration intends to speed their car electrification. Stephen Dyer, managing director of Shanghai consultancy AlixPartners, stressed the importance of this cooperation, saying VW Group’s faith is crucial. By sharing the powertrain, chassis, and electrical design across models, an automotive platform maximizes investment returns and reduces costs.
